Arabic root
خ-ز-نHebrew מחסן looks like a twin of Arabic makhzan, but the letters don't line up by regular sound law: Arabic ز answers Hebrew ז — and a direct borrowing would simply have kept it — yet מחסן has ס. It's best read as built on the biblical root ח-ס-ן, 'to store up' (Isaiah 23:18): a look-alike, not a clean cognate or a loan. The Arabic word itself, by way of Italian magazzino, gave English 'magazine' — your storeroom and your favorite periodical share an ancestor.
